About Honey Holding

One of the largest industrial suppliers of honey to America’s largest bakeries and food processors, Honey Holding I is a producer of local Texas honey through its investment in Beckert Bees LLC of Vidor, Texas. Honey Holding of Baytown Texas co-founded Beckert Bees in the summer of 2013 investing approximately $500,000 and providing marketing expertise and agrarian support. Beckert Bees produced nearly 200,000 pounds from its initial harvest and is poised to increase production to over 500,000 pounds of local Texas produced honey in 2015 and 2016. Through this investment, Honey Holding and Beckert Bees have invested in the expansion of domestic honey production in the face of expanding foreign imports of honey, which now account for over 2/3rds of U.S. consumption.

U.S. domestic honey production has declined from over 210 million pounds annually in 1995 to 149 million pounds annually in 2013. This has been a result of many factors including but not limited to demographic changes in American society as the young move from farms to city and health issues with bees such as Colony Collapse Disorder. The honey bee industry in the US is the backbone of billions of dollars of American agriculture due to the essential nature of pollination. As honey bees gather pollen and nectar, they pollinate crops such as apples, cranberries, melons and broccoli. Some crops, including blueberries and cherries, are 90-percent dependent on honey bee pollination; one crop, almonds, depends entirely on the honey bee for pollination at bloom time. For many others, crop yield and quality would be greatly reduced without honey bee pollination. A 1999 Cornell University study documented that the contribution made by honey bees to pollinate crops amounted to just over $14.6 billion. Honey Holding through its investment in domestic honey production is taking proactive steps to reduce the trend toward decline honey production and in its small way rebuilding America’s domestic honey industry.

Another benefit the company foresees is a rise in employment in Texas as agriculture and related industries grow and create jobs. In addition, through internships and apprenticeships it has established with Beckert Bees, Honey Holding hopes to stimulate the interest of younger generations in the beekeeping industry. The company assures the quality of its product by continual assessment in its state-of-the-art honey lab. The honey is also GFSI certified under the BRC Food Standard. The company is known for its quality and price competitiveness, as well as the consistency and timeliness of its order fulfillment. To find out more, visit http://www.honeysolutions.com.
